Wanna learn to sky dive??
F1 2011... I cant wait!
So… 12 teams, 24 drivers, 20 races…Formula One 2011 is starting soon and what an exciting year we have ahead because of course we have the launch of the brand new Indian Grand Prix - 20 miles outside Deli, with a corner very similar to Istanbulls Turn 8 and set to be one of the fastest tracks, it will certainly be a race not to be missed when the F1 head there on the 30th October.
Our world champion Sebastien Vettel once again drives for Redbull with Mark Webber also on his team, Button and Hamilton are sticking with McClaren and Alonso and Massa are undoubtedly excited because Ferrari will become the first team to unveil a 2011 Formula 1 car when they take the wraps off the new F150 at their Maranello base on Friday.
New Force India driver, Di Resta is the third Brit to join F1. He’s actually, in the past, beaten many of the current F1 drivers when in the touring car world, so it will be really interesting to see how he gets on this year being up against them again. Obviously the difference between driving a 500bhp touring car and an F1 car is like comparing a family estate car to a supercar, and Di Resta may still have everything to prove in F1 but like the rest of 2011's rookies he also has nothing to lose.
Just some of the rules changes:
2011 will see the return of the 107% rule in qualifying. So, any driver who fails to set a time within 107% of the fastest lap in Q1 will not be permitted to take part in the race
KERS units will be optional for all teams
And the FIA has tightened its driving standards, moving to prevent overly-aggressive driving and driving beyond the boundaries of the circuit to gain an advantage by implementing stricter penalties for drivers observed to be doing so… so Alonso, you’d better behave buddy!
For the first time since 1970, we have the mouth-watering prospect of five world champions racing against each other.
2010 was regarded as one of the best ever Formula 1 seasons, but 2011 has the ingredients to potentially be even better still. Is it the start of a new golden era for the sport? Fingers crossed!
